## About Arsenal Park

Arsenal Park grew up on the site of the former Rompiro arms and ammunition factory, on the edge of Orăștie. The land had been handed to the army in 1936–1938 for experiments with explosives, and after 1989 the factory fell into decline. It was bought by the brothers Emil and Marius Cristescu, who turned it into a military-themed leisure complex that opened in 2009. The abandoned bunkers and depots became accommodation, and a collection of military hardware was laid out between the trees, along paved paths.

Today the park covers 88 hectares of forest, with about 12 km of paths, and people visit it both to stroll among the exhibits and for the adventure activities. The entrance ticket gives access to the park, the open-air museum and the playgrounds; the adventure, zip line and other activities are paid for separately. Accommodation, a restaurant and a spa area make it a destination for a few days as well. The name appears in several forms (Arsenal Park, Arsenal Park Transilvania, Arsenal Aventura & Aqua Park); here it means the park you can visit, with all its zones.

### What you can see

**The open-air military museum** has, according to the operator, more than 100 exhibits: tanks (among them a T-34-85 and a T-55), guns, armoured personnel carriers, rocket launchers, anti-aircraft machine guns, military trucks, a locomotive, an IAR-93 aircraft and a Kamov Ka-26 helicopter. Besides walking the paths, you can take a ride on a tracked vehicle with a trailer.

The adventure zone starts at the former water tower: the 607 m zip line, setting off from a height of 55 m, the PowerFan Jumps controlled-fall jump and a climbing wall. In the forest there are rope courses, archery and airsoft, mini golf, a skate park and playgrounds for children.

### Good to know

The Aqua Park, with its slides and outdoor and indoor pools, runs only in the warm season; in September 2026 it was already closed until spring 2027. The park stays open outside that season, and some activities (the zip-line course, carriage and horse rides) may be temporarily unavailable.

## Don't miss

- A walk among the T-34-85 and T-55 tanks and the other exhibits of the open-air military museum.
- The IAR-93 aircraft, displayed beside the main path, among the trees.
- The 607 m zip line, in a single span, setting off from the water tower at a height of 55 m.
- The PowerFan Jumps controlled-fall jump from the water tower.
- The 12 km of forest paths, to explore on foot or by hired bicycle.
