## About Borșa Resort

Borșa Resort, known locally as the Tourist Complex (Complexul turistic), lies in Băile Borșa, a component village of the town of Borșa in Maramureș, at about 850 m, at the foot of the northern slope of the Rodna Mountains, close to the road to the Prislop Pass. Skiing has a tradition here going back to the 1940s, when a slope and a ski jump were built; international competitions were held on the jump until 2000.

Today's ski area grew up around the gondola opened in December 2021, built by Doppelmayr, and the Olympic slope, homologated by the International Ski Federation for slalom and giant slalom. The lifts belong to the town and are run by Ski Borșa, a company of the Local Council, which also runs the rental centre and the restaurant at the base. In winter the resort suits both beginners and advanced skiers; in summer the gondola takes walkers up to the upper plateau.

### What you can see

The gondola climbs 2.6 km, from 847 m to the Buza Dealului station at 1,633 m, with a mid-station at 1,308 m next to the reservoir that feeds the snow cannons. From the top, two slopes of ~3 km each run down, one red and one blue, on average 60 m wide and floodlit for evening skiing; in total the ski area has 6.45 km of slopes.

The plateau at the top station has open views of the Rodna and Maramureș Mountains. A 9.3 km themed trail starts here, passing Păltiniș Peak (1,773 m) and the Moșii Păltinișului natural monument, in the Rodna Mountains National Park. The route to the [Cailor Waterfall](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/cascada-cailor) also starts from the tourist complex.

### Good to know

Besides the gondola ski area, there is also the old two-seater chairlift to the plateau near the Cailor Waterfall, opened in 1986, and a slope with a chairlift at the Prislop Pass, both with other operators and separate schedules. The gondola may be stopped in strong wind or for technical reasons, and tickets are not refunded for weather or lack of snow.
