## About Buziaș Spa Resort

Buziaș is a spa resort in the Banat, some 35 km from Timișoara, born around springs of carbonated mineral water. The springs began to be developed in 1816, and in 1911 the resort was declared of national interest. The water is bicarbonate, chloride, sodium, calcium and magnesium, with 5,000–6,000 mg/l of mineralisation and 2,000–2,600 mg/l of carbon dioxide, and it is used for drinking cures and carbon dioxide baths, mainly for cardiovascular, degenerative rheumatic and neurological conditions.

The heart of the resort is the park, of more than 20 hectares, with old and rare trees, among them an imposing plane tree. Together with the colonnade, the former Bazar and Grand hotels and the former casino, the park forms an ensemble of spa architecture listed as a historic monument. The paths, lighting and furniture were redone with EU funds, and the works finished in early 2024.

### What you can see

The main attraction is the colonnade, a covered promenade of fretwork timber, about 500 m long, with four pavilions and a brick floor. It was built in 1875 and restored in 2016–2017; it once linked the springs, the hotels and the casino. In the park you will find the Moș Bâzieș spring, an artesian fountain with a flower bed, statues and the old plane tree, as well as the buildings of the former casino and the Bazar hotel, which you can see from outside.

### Good to know

Some historic buildings in the park, among them the former baths, are abandoned and decaying; look at them from the path. The operator of the treatment centre and of the Parc, Phoenix and Timiș hotels changed owner in March 2026, and in the first half of the year the units received no guests: if you are coming for treatment or accommodation, confirm by phone before travelling.
