## About Casa Baraj Ski Slope

The Casa Baraj slope is the ski area of Văliug, in Caraș-Severin county, at the foot of the Semenic Mountains. It starts right on the shore of the Gozna reservoir, next to the dam that gives it its name, in the Crivaia holiday area, on the DJ582 county road between Reșița and Semenic. The slope was built by a private investor and opened in the winter of 2011–2012, and since then it has been the nearest place to ski for people from Reșița.

The ski area is small and suits mainly beginners and intermediate skiers. Being at low altitude, it keeps its snow with the help of a snowmaking system; the long runs that come down from Semenic on forest roads also end here, at Văliug.

### What you can see

The chairlift sets off near the lake and climbs through the forest; beside it runs the Casa Baraj slope, about 800 m long and easy. From the top also starts the Casa Baraj Special slope, about 250 m long and difficult, served by a drag lift. Both slopes are floodlit for evening skiing. At the foot of the slope are the restaurant, the après-ski area with a view of the lake and the equipment hire centre.

In summer the chairlift takes you towards the Gozna-Vulturi adventure park, in the forest above the lake, and at the foot of the slope you can hire SUP boards for the lake.

### Good to know

The ski area is at low altitude, so the season depends on the cold: in mild winters the opening may be delayed. The long runs from Semenic, which end at Văliug, have no lifts to take you back up.

## Don't miss

- Skiing down the easy Casa Baraj slope, about 800 m long, suited to your first steps on skis.
- The short, steep Casa Baraj Special slope, served by a drag lift.
- Evening skiing on the floodlit slopes above the lake.
- A break at the après-ski, with a view of Lake Gozna.
- The chairlift ride up towards the Gozna-Vulturi adventure park, in summer.
