## About Cheile Grădiștei Fundata Ski Area

Cheile Grădiștei Fundata is a tourist and sports complex built on a plateau at 1,300 m in the commune of Fundata, with views of Piatra Craiului and the Bucegi. It grew up around a sports base for biathlon and cross-country skiing; today it also has a small ski area, run by the Cheile Grădiștei company, which also owns the neighbouring complex at Moieciu.

The complex's three slopes are aimed at beginners and intermediate skiers: Fundata Slope 1, Fundata Slope 2 and the Moieciu Slope, towards Moieciu. All have drag lifts and snowmaking, and two rental centres hire out skis, snowboards and sledges. The same plateau also has a tubing run.

### What you can see

Fundata Slope 1 is 267 m long with a vertical drop of 64 m and is rated easy to intermediate; Fundata Slope 2 is 450 m and easy; the Moieciu Slope is 570 m with a 57 m drop and is rated intermediate. Nearby is the internationally homologated biathlon arena, with a stadium of 30 shooting lanes, biathlon and cross-country tracks and a roller-ski track.

In summer the same area has an alpine coaster of almost 1.6 km, a 500 m tandem zip line, an adventure park and hiking and mountain-bike routes.

### Good to know

The ski season depends on cold and snow. It is not a large ski area: people come mostly with children or for their first runs on skis, not for long descents. There is also accommodation on the plateau, so a weekend can be spent without extra driving.

## Don't miss

- Your first runs on skis on Fundata Slope 2, 450 m long and easy.
- The Moieciu Slope, 570 m, the longest in the complex, rated intermediate.
- Tubing on the plateau, fun for children and adults alike.
- The internationally homologated biathlon arena, with cross-country tracks around the stadium.
- In summer, the almost 1.6 km ride down on the alpine coaster.
