# Tourist attractions in Prahova County

Prahova gathers the most places to visit in Muntenia. The Prahova Valley, with Sinaia, Bușteni and Azuga, has been the holiday spot of the royal family and of Bucharest's residents for over a century, and above it rises the steep face of the Bucegi, with Caraiman at the fore. Lower down, Câmpina and Ploiești grew on oil, the hills of Dealu Mare on wine, and Slănic and Telega on salt. For anyone looking for tourist attractions in Prahova county, the list starts with the castles but does not end there.

[Peleș Castle](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/castelul-peles), the summer residence of King Carol I, stands in Sinaia with Pelișor beside it; in Bușteni, [Cantacuzino Castle](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/castelul-cantacuzino) looks out towards Caraiman. On Caraiman, the [Heroes' Cross](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/crucea-caraiman) can be seen from the whole valley, and below it Caraiman Waterfall and [Urlătoarea Waterfall](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/cascada-urlatoarea) are short hikes starting from Bușteni. [Slănic Prahova Salt Mine](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/salina-slanic-prahova) is known for its huge chambers, the Telega salt baths are lakes formed in the old salt pits, and in Câmpina the Iulia Hasdeu Castle is an unusual house museum.
