# Tourist attractions in Teleorman County

Teleorman is a lowland county in the south of Muntenia, between the Olt, the Danube and the Vedea, with sprawling villages, wheat and sunflowers. Alexandria, the county seat, is a young town, laid out to a plan in the 19th century; Turnu Măgurele stands where the Olt flows into the Danube, next to the ruins of Turnu fortress, and Zimnicea is the southernmost town in Romania. Tourist attractions in Teleorman county are rather low-key: Plăviceni Monastery, the Danube meadows with their marshes and the manor houses scattered through the villages give a few reasons to stop for anyone crossing [Muntenia](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/region/muntenia) southwards.
