Published on 3 November 2026 · Facts checked on 3 November 2026

peplaiuri.ro lists 46 ski resorts, ski areas and ski slopes in Romania, from the large ski areas of [Sinaia](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/sinaia), [Straja](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/straja) and [Poiana Brașov](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/poiana-brasov) to the short slopes next to towns, plus the ski jumping centre at Râșnov. Most are in the Southern Carpathians (the Prahova Valley, Brașov, the Jiu Valley, the Transalpina) and in the Eastern Carpathians (Maramureș, Bukovina, Harghita); the others are in the Apuseni Mountains, the Banat and Moldavia.

This guide puts them all in one table, with the kilometres of slopes, the lifts, the top altitude, night skiing and artificial snow, then goes through them by region, one paragraph each with a link to its own page, where you will find the opening hours, the ski pass and directions. At the end come the slopes with night skiing and the common choices: Poiana Brașov or Sinaia, Straja or Rânca. All of them are also on the [map of ski slopes](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/map?categorie=partii-de-schi).

## In short

- peplaiuri.ro lists 46 ski resorts, ski areas and ski slopes in Romania, plus the ski jumps at Râșnov, all in the Ski slopes category.
- Of the ski areas that publish their length, Sinaia has 26.9 km of slopes, Straja about 26 km and Poiana Brașov about 24 km; the operator at Muntele Mic advertises more than 20 km.
- 29 of the resorts and ski areas in this guide have floodlit slopes for evening skiing, and 28 have artificial snow, according to their pages and the operators' websites (November 2026).
- For the 2026–2027 winter, the slopes at Harghita Mădăraș may not run because of a legal dispute, the company that runs the Mărișel slope is insolvent, and the slope on Cozla, in Piatra Neamț, has not operated since 2019.
- A one-day adult ski pass cost 160 lei at Straja and Rânca in the 2025–2026 season, 190 lei at Transalpina Ski Resort, 210–230 lei in Sinaia and 240 lei in Poiana Brașov.
- Sinaia (2,090 m), Șureanu (2,010 m) and Transalpina Ski Resort (2,000 m) have slopes above the treeline, at 2,000 m and higher; the ski areas next to towns, such as Feleacu or Șugaș Băi, have short slopes with night skiing.

## Ski slopes in Romania: the list of resorts and ski areas

The table covers every ski resort and ski area on the site, by region, with the figures published on their pages and on the operators' websites. “Lifts” means the cable lifts (gondolas, cable cars, chairlifts, drag lifts), with the magic carpets where the operator counts them. “Top altitude” is the highest point of the slopes or the lifts. Where the operator does not publish a figure, the table says “not published”: this does not mean there is no night skiing or artificial snow, only that it is not confirmed.

The total length of slopes is not measured the same way everywhere: some operators add up only the groomed slopes, others also the variants and link runs. For the records (the longest slope, the largest ski area, the highest resort) see the [guide to the longest ski slope in Romania](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/guides/cea-mai-lunga-partie-din-romania).

Each resort links to its own page in the section for its region, below. All of them are also on the [Ski slopes](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/ski-slopes) category page and on the [map](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/map?categorie=partii-de-schi).

## What has changed on the slopes for the 2026–2027 winter

**Uncertain or closed.** At [Harghita Mădăraș Ski Area](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/harghita-madaras), the operator's contract expires in December 2026 and the landowner wants a different operator from 2027; the dispute is in court, so it is not certain the lifts will run in the 2026–2027 winter. The company that runs the [Mărișel Ski Slopes](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/partia-marisel) is in insolvency proceedings. On [Mount Cozla and the Gondola](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/cozla-piatra-neamt), in Piatra Neamț, the gondola runs all year, but the slope and the chairlift have not operated since the 2018–2019 winter.

**New.** [Izvoare Mountain Resort](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/statiunea-izvoare), near Baia Mare, has had an artificial slope since December 2025, also used in summer. [Luna Șes](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/luna-ses), the only ski slope in Satu Mare County, opened in January 2024. At Cavnic, the Icoana ski area has a new chairlift, and at [Predeal](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/predeal) a new chairlift is being installed on Clăbucet, for the 2027 competitions.

**In progress.** At [Semenic Resort](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/statiunea-semenic) a new ski area is being built, with a gondola and about 15 km of slopes: the snowmaking network and the reservoir are finished, the gondola is not. The slope at Bran, known as Zănoaga, now operates under the name Brava Park.

## Ski slopes in Harghita, Covasna and Mureș

The Székely Land has many small, family-run ski areas with short slopes, most with night skiing, and a few rail-mounted bobsleigh tracks.

## Ski slopes with night skiing and artificial snow

**Night skiing.** 29 of the resorts and ski areas in the table have at least one slope floodlit in the evening. The hours vary: at Straja, the drag lifts and the chairlift on Constantinescu run until 21:00, at Piatra Grăitoare and Râușor night skiing lasts from 17:00 to 20:00, at SkiGyimes until 21:00, at Harghita Mădăraș only on Fridays and Saturdays, and at Muntele Mic at weekends. In Poiana Brașov the Bradul slope is floodlit, in Predeal only Subteleferic. The slopes next to towns, such as [Feleacu](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/partia-feleacu) and [Șugaș Băi](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/sugas-bai), run on weekdays mostly in the afternoon and evening. At Straja and Predeal, the day ski pass is not valid for night skiing: the evening ticket is bought separately. Opening hours and prices are on each resort's page.

**Artificial snow.** 28 resorts and ski areas have snow cannons, according to their pages and the operators' websites. They matter most on the low slopes, such as Șoimul (757 m), Slănic-Moldova (725 m) or Casa Baraj, where the season lasts thanks to the snow made by the cannons. The cannons do not necessarily cover the whole ski area: at Straja they cover 20 of the roughly 26 km, and at Muntele Mic they do not reach every slope. When the slopes usually open and where the snow comes first is in the [guide to the start of the ski season](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/guides/cand-se-deschid-partiile).
