## About Nicolae Titulescu Park

Nicolae Titulescu Park, also called the Central Park (Parcul Central), is the best-known green space in the centre of Brașov, a long strip of avenues and parterres on Eroilor Boulevard, ~600 m from Piața Sfatului. Its beginnings go back to around 1885, when the site was open ground on both sides of the Customs Gate, where the villagers' carts stopped on their way to the market; in the early 20th century the city's head gardener, Carol Hermann, gave it its modern layout. Over time it has carried several names: Carol II (from 1932), Cuteanu, after a mayor, the Friendship Park (from 1948, for 14 years) and, today, Nicolae Titulescu, after the diplomat buried in the yard of St Nicholas Church.

Some guidebooks also call it Rudolf Park. The name comes from Aleea Rudolf, the late-19th-century promenade in the area of today's Military Club, named after the Austro-Hungarian crown prince, who died in 1889; after 1918 the avenue became Ferdinand Boulevard.

### What you can see

The central avenue runs between trees of rare species and parterres of clipped hedges, with beds of tulips and roses. Near the Army House stands an artesian fountain from around 1900, the oldest of its kind in Brașov: after 1989 its bronze parts were stolen, and in 2007 it was rebuilt from photographs taken in 1903 (2.5 m high). On one of the avenues stands the bronze statue of Nicolae Titulescu. The playground was redeveloped in 2025, with two wooden castles (one with a 6.5 m tower), slides, a trampoline, swings and a sandpit, plus equipment for children with disabilities.

### Good to know

In August 2026 the city hall launched the procedure for an underground car park of ~440 spaces in the area of the park; once it is built, the park is to be extended and the car parks along Eroilor Boulevard are to disappear. No timetable for the works has been set.
