## About Belvedere Park

Belvedere Park, in the Tilișca district in the west of Sibiu, opened on 11 August 2023 on 6.4 hectares that had served for more than two decades as a dump for rubble and building materials. The conversion, which began in 2020, cost around 3.9 million euros, of which roughly 3.5 million came from EU funds; the city hall presents it as the first park built in Sibiu in the last 30 years, and by size it is the city's second, after Sub Arini. The name was chosen by a public vote in February 2023 from five proposals: Belvedere, Cibinium, Cindrel, Colina and Panoramic.

The slope has been shaped into four circular terraces, with 585 trees of 20 species, more than 6,000 perennials, lawns of biodiverse flora and automatic irrigation. The project manager described it as a community space and an urban ecosystem rather than a park in the classic mould.

### What you can see

From the panoramic terrace on the upper plateau you can see the Cindrel Mountains and the Cibin valley. Also up here are the 11-hole minigolf course, the playground, the calisthenics area (~150 m², with equipment for seniors and people with disabilities), a 20 m mini zip line with a slackline, and the water ring with a fountain lit in colours. On the lower plateau are the pump track for bikes and skates, the multipurpose court (football, basketball, handball, volleyball) and a small football pitch. Dogs have an area of their own where they can run off the lead. More than 200 lamp posts and three flower-shaped solar installations that follow the sun light the park in the evening.

### Good to know

The park is on a slope, with differences in level between the plateaus, and the trees planted in 2023 are still young, so there is little shade in summer.

- The pump track for bikes, with sections for tricks.
