## About Râușor Ski Area

Râușor is a ski area right at the foot of the Retezat Mountains, at about 1,200 m, in the commune of Râu de Mori, roughly 30 km from Hațeg. For a long time it was only a short slope with a drag lift; in recent years the area has grown to about 3.5 km of slopes, with a chairlift and snowmaking. The lifts are run by the company Clif Alpin.

The place can be visited all year. In winter it is an area for skiing and snowboarding, with runs for several levels and night skiing; in summer the same lifts serve mountain cart descents, and from Râușor the paths lead to the western part of [Retezat National Park](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/parcul-national-retezat).

### What you can see

The area has three runs: an easy one, for beginners and families, a medium one and a black one, for advanced skiers. A chairlift about 900 m long climbs to 1,560 m, at the top of the area, and two drag lifts serve the lower and the upper parts. The slopes have snow cannons and are floodlit in the evening, until 20:00.

At 1,250 m, at the Apres Ski, hot tea and mulled wine are served, and at the foot of the slope are the ski school and an equipment rental. On the same county road, the DJ686, stands [Colț Fortress](https://peplaiuri.ro/en/cetatea-colt), a stone ruin on a spur of rock.

### Good to know

On Mondays the lifts are closed, except during school holidays and public holidays, and the timetable may vary with the weather. The opening of the season depends on snow; the slopes usually open in December.
