In Romania you ski in the Carpathians, usually from December to March, and on the higher slopes, in snowy winters, sometimes into April. Large ski areas, with gondolas and dozens of kilometres of runs, are few; most slopes are small, run by town halls or local companies, with one chairlift or a few drag lifts. Many depend on natural snow, so it is worth checking before you set off whether the lifts are running.
