About Săritoarea Ieduțului Waterfall
Săritoarea Ieduțului is one of the waterfalls that made the Iad Valley (Valea Iadului) famous, in the Vlădeasa Mountains, on the Bihor side of the Apuseni Mountains. It forms on the Ieduțul, a small stream that comes down from the Stâna de Vale side and joins the Iad Valley from the left. Over a rock ledge, the water spreads into a white, foaming fan that roars loudly, especially in spring and after rain. Sources put its height at between 10 and 15 m.
"Săritoare" is the old local word for a waterfall, and the full name, Săritoarea Ieduțului ("the Ieduț leap"), is the one used on hiking maps and on the mountain rescue signposts; some sources simply call it the Ieduț Waterfall.
Unlike Iadolina, which sits right beside the road, Săritoarea Ieduțului can only be reached on foot: from the county road you climb for 15–20 minutes on a forest path running alongside the stream. The waterfall is part of the marked circuit of the Iad Valley waterfalls, together with Vălul Miresei, Laia Mare (Miss), the Runcului waterfall and Iadolina, and of the blue-dot circuit that starts from the resort of Stâna de Vale.
What you can see
The path climbs along the stream, among fir and spruce trees and thick clumps of ferns, over moss-covered stones. On the last stretch it crosses a small wooden footbridge and a section with handrails, then opens suddenly onto the fall: a wide fan of water breaking over the rock and filling the narrow valley with noise and spray. From the footbridge at its foot you see it up close. On the way back, it is worth stopping at the Vălul Miresei waterfall on the Iad Valley, a few hundred metres away.
Good to know
The path is short but damp, with slippery roots and stones; do not come in sandals. The waterfall is at its most impressive in the rainy season, when the flow is strong; after dry spells it thins out.

- Getting there
By car: the path to the waterfall starts from the DJ 108J, the asphalted road between Stâna de Vale and Remeți (part of the "Apuseni Road"), about 7 km from Stâna de Vale and about 11 km from Coada Lacului Leșu; the spot is marked by a mountain rescue signpost. From Beiuș, go via Budureasa and Stâna de Vale (~35 km, ~50 min); from Oradea, either via Beiuș (~100 km, ~2 hours) or on the DN1 towards Cluj-Napoca and then via Remeți and past Lake Leșu.
