Terms and conditions
In short: Pe Plaiuri is free and you can read everything on it without an account. If you create an account and publish photos or reviews, they remain yours; you only give us the right to show them on the site. Our texts and visitors' photos may not be copied without permission. We check the practical information (opening hours, prices, access), but it can change — confirm it with the official source before you set off.
1. Who we are and what you agree to
Pe Plaiuri is run by the Pe Plaiuri team (“we”). Our contact details are on the contact page.
By using the site you accept these terms. When you create an account or publish something, you also accept the publishing guidelines. How we process your data is described in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
2. Your account
- You can create an account if you are at least 16 years old.
- Account details must be real: the name or pen name you want to appear under, and an email address we can reach you at.
- You are responsible for what is done from your account. Keep your password safe and let us know if you suspect someone else has it.
- One person, one account. Accounts created to get around a block or to vote more than once are closed.
- You can delete your account at any time, from your account. What happens to your photos is described in section 3.4.
3. The content you publish
By “content” we mean everything you publish on the site: photos and their captions, ratings, reviews and comments, and your photographer profile (name, profile picture, description, links).
3.1. What you warrant
When you publish something, you warrant that:
- you are the author — the photos were taken by you and the texts were written by you; you do not upload photos found online, taken by other photographers or by someone else, even with their verbal consent;
- you have the right to publish it — people who are clearly recognisable in your photos agree to appear on a public website; for children parental consent is needed, so it is simpler not to include them;
- it does not break the law or the rights of others — no defamatory, obscene or discriminatory content, and nothing that reveals other people's personal data;
- reviews are honest — they describe your real experience at the place, and are not written to order, as advertising or to harm someone.
You are responsible for the content you publish. If someone complains to us that a photo or text of yours infringes their rights, we will ask you to clarify and may take it down until the matter is resolved.
3.2. Your rights remain yours
Your photos and texts remain yours. You do not assign your copyright and you do not publish them under an open licence. On the site, every photo appears with your name as the author, and nobody else may copy or reuse it without your permission (see section 4).
3.3. What rights you give us
So that we can show what you publish, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence for the full term of legal protection to:
- display, store and reproduce the content on Pe Plaiuri, on any page and in any language of the site (for example on the attraction page, on the map, in lists or as the main photo);
- adapt it technically: resize, crop, compress, convert to other formats, generate variants for different screens, strip technical metadata from the file;
- use it to present and promote Pe Plaiuri: in page previews shared on social networks, in our posts and materials about the site, in newsletters — always with your name as the author;
- translate it (photo captions, reviews) so that it also appears in the site's other languages.
The licence is non-exclusive: you can publish the same photos anywhere else, under any conditions you like. We do not sell your photos and we do not pass them on to others for their use.
3.4. Deletion
- Photos can be deleted at any time, one by one, from your account. A deleted photo disappears from the site and the licence for it ends; it remains valid only for material already published in which it appears (for example an older social media post).
- Reviews and ratings can be changed or deleted at any time from your account.
- When you delete your account, you choose what happens to your photos: we delete them together with the account, we leave them on the site with your name as the author, or we leave them on the site without a name. If you leave them, the licence in 3.3 stays in force; you can ask us at any time, even after deleting the account, to delete or anonymise them by writing to contact. Ratings, reviews, saved attractions and the profile are deleted with the account.
3.5. Moderation
Photos appear on the site after we review them; reviews appear immediately and are checked as we go. We may reject, hide or delete any content that does not comply with these terms or the publishing guidelines, and we may block an account that breaks them repeatedly. When we reject a photo we tell you the reason, in your account. We are not obliged to publish anything and we are not responsible for content published by users, but we act when we learn of a problem (see section 5).
4. Our content and copyright
4.1. What is protected
- The site's texts — attraction descriptions, guides, practical information, translations — are written by us and protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
- The database of attractions (the selection, structure, fields, classifications and verified coordinates) is protected as a database under Romanian Law no. 8/1996.
- Visitors' photos belong to their authors. All rights reserved; they may not be copied or reused without the author's permission.
- Openly licensed photos (Wikimedia Commons, Unsplash, Pexels and others) are marked on each image with the author, the licence and the page they come from. You may reuse these, but only under the licence shown, which you comply with directly towards the author.
- The Pe Plaiuri name and visual identity belong to us.
4.2. What you may do
- Read, search and use the site for yourself, to plan your visits.
- Link to any page, including with its title and a short description.
- Quote short excerpts from the texts, with attribution and a link, within the limits of quotation allowed by law.
- Share pages on social networks, using the site's sharing features or a link.
4.3. What you may not do
- Copy, republish or translate our texts, in whole or in substantial part, on another website, in an app, in a publication or in a dataset.
- Extract or reuse the database, in whole or in substantial part, including by automated download (scraping, crawlers, bots), except for indexing by search engines.
- Download, copy or reuse visitors' photos, including on social networks, in publications, in commercial material or for training artificial intelligence systems, without the author's written permission.
- Remove author or licence notices from photos.
- Use the site in a way that affects its operation: mass automated requests, attempts at unauthorised access, uploading harmful files.
If you want to use a text or photo from the site in any other way than allowed above, write to us — it is usually possible, with the author's consent.
5. Illegal content or content that infringes your rights
If you find on the site a photo or text that infringes your copyright, your rights over your own image or other rights, or content you consider illegal:
- for photos and profiles, use the Report button next to them, or
- write to us at contact, with: the link to the page and the content concerned, an explanation (for example “the photo is mine, originally published at …”, with a link), your name and an email address we can reply to, and confirmation that the information is accurate and given in good faith.
We review every notice as quickly as we can and reply to you. Content that is justifiably reported is taken down and its author is informed and may contest the decision. We do not reveal to the author who sent the notice unless the law requires us to.
6. The information on the site
Pe Plaiuri is a guide, not the official source for the places it describes. We do our best to keep the information correct and up to date — we check it periodically and note the date of verification — but opening hours, prices, access, road conditions and visiting rules can change without our knowledge. Check them with the place's administrator before you set off, especially for a long trip or when travelling with children.
- Visitors' ratings, reviews and photos express their opinions and experiences, not ours.
- Maps, routes and distances are indicative; they do not replace signposts, official maps and common sense on the ground, especially in the mountains, in caves or on water.
- The weather forecast comes from a third-party service (Open-Meteo) and is indicative.
- External links (official websites, Google Maps, Waze, social networks) lead to services we do not control; their terms apply.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage resulting from the use of information on the site, from its unavailability, or from content published by users or third parties. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
7. Availability and changes
The site is provided “as is”. We may change, suspend or stop any feature at any time, without obligation to you; if we close the site, we will give you notice so that you can download your photos.
We may change these terms. We announce important changes on the site, and the date of the last update is shown at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after the terms have changed, you accept the new ones.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by Romanian law. We try to resolve any disagreement directly first — write to us. If that fails, the Romanian courts at our registered seat have jurisdiction, except where the law gives you, as an individual, the right to the court of your own domicile.
Pe Plaiuri is free and sells nothing. If you are a consumer, you can in any case turn to the Romanian consumer protection authority (anpc.ro) and the European online dispute resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/odr).
