PePlaiuri.roTourist attractions in Romania

About the site

Pe Plaiuri is an independent guide to the tourist attractions of Romania: castles, fortresses, monasteries, museums, caves, waterfalls, mountains, salt mines, spa resorts and the seaside, each with opening hours, prices, visit duration, address, coordinates, photos and practical tips. The site is free, carries no advertising, and can be read in Romanian, English, German and Italian.

Who we are

The site is made by the Pe Plaiuri team, based in Sibiu: people who travel around the country and wanted one place where the practical information about an attraction is gathered, verified and up to date. We are not affiliated with any attraction, agency or institution, and we are not paid to list or recommend a place. The operator's identification details are in the privacy policy.

How we choose the attractions

We start from the places genuinely worth seeing in each county: historic and natural monuments, UNESCO sites, the attractions visitors ask about. The Top 20 and Top 100 labels mark our editorial selection of the country's most important attractions. Visitors can suggest missing places through the "Suggest an attraction" form; we check them before they appear on the site.

How we verify the information

Every attraction has an entry written by us, based on official sources (the operator's website, the town hall, the museum, the national park), public documentation (Wikipedia, the national list of historic monuments, UNESCO) and, where we have been, a visit on site. Opening hours, prices and contact details are confirmed with the official source. The verification date is shown on every page, in the "At a glance" paragraph, and we re-check the data at least once a year or when we learn it has changed.

Every attraction is linked to its place on Google Maps and, where they exist, to its Wikipedia article and Wikidata entity, so there is no doubt which place is meant. The coordinates are those of the entrance or access point, not of the town centre.

Information can change before we hear of it: holiday hours, a new price in spring, a closure for restoration. Before you set off, confirm the hours and the price with the official source, which is linked from the attraction's page.

Photos

Our photos of the attractions are under free licences (Wikimedia Commons, Unsplash, Pexels) and carry the attribution the licence requires. Visitors' photos remain their authors' property; we only have the right to show them on the site. How to add photos.

The community

Visitors with an account can rate attractions, write reviews, upload photos and suggest corrections. Every photo and review is moderated before it appears publicly, according to the publishing guidelines.

How to report a mistake

Found outdated hours, a changed price, a wrong photo? Use "Suggest a correction" on the attraction's page or write to us. We usually fix it within a few days.

For programs and AI assistants

Any page of the site can also be read as Markdown by adding the .md suffix to its address, and the site map for assistants is llms.txt. There is also a read-only, keyless JSON public API (with an OpenAPI specification) and an MCP server at https://peplaiuri.ro/mcp, which you can add as a connector to your assistant. When you take information from here, cite the source page: its address is on every page, together with the verification date.
