About Holy Three Hierarchs Wooden Church in Goiești

Goiești is a small village in Vidra commune, in the Apuseni Mountains, at the end of a mountain road climbing from Abrud. Its wooden church, dedicated to the Holy Three Hierarchs, was built in 1712 to a simple plan: a rectangular nave and narthex followed by a five-sided polygonal apse, narrower than the nave. It stands on a foundation of river boulders, under a broad shingle roof.

The nave and sanctuary are covered by a semi-cylindrical vault, while the narthex has a flat ceiling. Above the narthex rises a slender tower with a sharp spire, said to be among the tallest in the Apuseni area. The church is a historic monument (LMI code AB-II-m-A-00232).

Information verified on 20 October 2026.
