Brambura Park is a family theme park that opened on 1 June 2022 in the Avrig Valley, at the foot of the Făgăraș Mountains, in a wooded area within the town of Avrig. It covers about six hectares and keeps growing, with development plans running to 2029. The name comes from the Romanian expression "a umbla brambura", meaning to wander without a plan. The investment is private: the developer and owner is Leopold (Leo) Klingeis, and the house was designed by the architect Tudor Ispas.
The main attraction is the Upside-Down House (Casa Întoarsă), a building of about 200 square metres, built upside down and slightly tilted (the press mentions a tilt of roughly 7 degrees). You walk in on the "ceiling", and the furniture, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom hang overhead. Construction took about two years, starting in autumn 2019, with a pause because of the pandemic.
What you can see
Besides the house, the park has a mini zoo with alpacas, dwarf goats, rabbits and fallow deer, playgrounds with swings, trampolines and inflatable slides, a tubing run, electric cars and the small Brambura Express tourist train. At the entrance there is a castle-style gate, and among the attractions is the "Talking Tree" in the Enchanted Forest. For meals there is a restaurant and a food zone with a summer bar, with outdoor terraces.
Good to know
Park entry and the ticket for the Upside-Down House are separate; tubing, electric cars and inflatable slides are paid extras. The park also holds themed events, such as the autumn Bavariada. The misspelling "Abrambura" circulates in the press, and prices in the 2022–2023 articles are out of date.
