Toplița Ski Slope
About Toplița Ski Slope
Pârtia Toplița is the ski area of the town of Toplița, in the Măgheruș district, at the foot of the Gurghiu Mountains, with views of the Călimani Mountains and the town. It has grown step by step: the medium-difficulty Măgheruș slope was built in 1999, snowmaking arrived in 2005, and in 2007 the longer, easy Bradul slope opened with a Doppelmayr drag lift. In 2020 a conveyor belt for beginners was added, in 2021 the rail bobsled, and in 2022 the tubing run.
You can come for a day of skiing or for a family afternoon without skis: the bobsled runs all year, even in the rain, and the sledging slope and tubing add more to do.
What you can see
The Bradul slope, 1,200 m long and easy, drops by about 125 m; Măgheruș, about 460 m and of medium difficulty, is steeper. Both have snowmaking and floodlights. The third slope, 220 m long, is for learning to ski and snowboard and is served by a conveyor belt, with the sledging slope alongside. At the foot of the Măgheruș slope are the ski bar and the rental centre.
The bobsled (alpine coaster) runs down on rails between meadows and spruces, in single or double sleds, with a brake within the passenger's reach. Children aged 3 and over can ride in the double sled with an adult; from 8 they can ride alone.
Good to know
The ski slopes open only when there is snow, usually from December, and run daily from 10:00 to 18:00; access to the slopes outside this time is forbidden, for safety and to allow the snow to be prepared. The area also has a horse-riding centre.
